Marina Faz-Huppert is a public service professional with twenty five years at the forefront of political affairs and worker advocacy in Illinois.
Before serving as a senior political advisor, Marina worked at the Illinois Department of Labor where she oversaw efforts to recover millions in back wages for workers, implemented reforms to ensure transparency in nursing staffing workforce, increased enforcement efforts in the temporary staffing industry and initiated legislative changes to ensure workers are entitled to a day of rest and break.
For nearly a decade, Marina served as Political Director for Local 881 of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) where she led and supported efforts to elect
worker-friendly candidates across the state at every level of government. She also led efforts to advance workplace policies in Springfield and Chicago City Council, such as Paid Sick Days and efforts to increase the state minimum wage.
Marina also established Senator Duckworth’s Chicago Office and served as District Director, where she oversaw constituent services and engaged key stakeholders in the region. In the Illinois General Assembly, she worked on the appropriations staff on behalf of the Senate Democratic Caucus.
Marina earned a master’s in political management from George Washington University. She is a graduate of DePaul University and founding member of Sigma Lambda Gamma multi-cultural sorority, Gamma Alpha Chapter. She also holds a Public Leadership Credential from the Kennedy School of Government.
Marina and her husband Nathan live in Glenview with their two boys.
