Rogelio Martinez Faz, age 70, of Glen Ellyn passed away on May 20, 2025.

 

Rogelio was a devoted husband of 49 years to Maria Ines Yolanda Alonso, who met as high school sweethearts and married on November 6, 1976 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. In Illinois, they lived in Glen Ellyn, Elmhurst and Berwyn. Although born in Chicago, he was raised in San Luis Potosi where he began a family with Yolanda. Eventually, they immigrated to Chicago to raise their family.

 

Rogelio worked tirelessly all his life to raise his children with Yolanda and found his calling later in life by teaching latino workers about best practices to stay safe at job sites. He also wrote on contemporary issues from a Mexican national perspective living in the US for news publications. He loved to debate the political issues of the day. Most of all, he loved and dedicated himself to caring for his three grandchildren.

 

Rogelio was the loving Father of Marina (Nathan) Faz-Huppert, Rogelio (Tracey Olsen) Martinez, Jr., Arturo (Maria) Martinez; Abuelito “Uito” to Vicente and Leonardo Huppert, Charli Martinez; caring brother of Luis Antonio (Maria Elena Garza) Martinez, Fernando Martinez, Susana Martinez Faz (Roberto) Villasuso, Arturo (Angeles) Martinez, Marina Martinez Faz, Silvia Martinez Faz (Rodolfo) Orduna, Ricardo (Lorena) Martinez, and Maria Estela Martinez Faz. Rogelio is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Marina Faz de Martinez.

 

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard, Il 60148 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Prayer Service Tuesday, May 27th, at 9:45 AM at the funeral home to 10:15 AM Mass at St. Alexander’s Catholic Church, 300 S Cornell Ave, Villa Park, IL 60181.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be directed to the Latino Worker Safety Center, 822 Elizabeth St, Joliet, IL 60435 Donate. Rogelio dedicated the last ten years of his life to grow the Center’s mission.
