The Fall Protection for the Competent Person Certificate training is designed to meet OSHA Competent Person requirements for fall protection per the 29CFR1926.500. Also covered is Ladder Safety per 29CFR1926.1053 and the Scaffold Fall Protection requirements per 29CFR1926.451(g).

"Competent person" means one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them.

During this Certificate Class, workers will learn thier responsibilities as a Competent Person and how to become authorized, how to help an employer create a training program, the nature of fall hazards in the work area, the correct procedures for erecting, maintaining, disassembling, and inspecting the fall protection systems to be used, the use and operation of guardrail systems, personal fall arrest systems, safety net systems, warning line systems, safety monitoring systems, controlled access zones, the role of each employee in the safety monitoring system, the limitations on the use of mechanical equipment during the performance of roofing work on low-sloped roofs, the correct procedures for the handling and storage of equipment and materials, the erection of overhead protection, the role of employees in fall protection plans, where to find fall protection standards, how to create a certificate of training, and knowing when retraining is needed. Attendees will take a written exam and upon passing the course will be issued a training certificate that is valid for 3 years.

This certificate training is highly recommended for Supervision but will also benefit all workers.
